Spiritual
I use to go to church as a kid because it's what my parents made me do. I had strict parents so I was always the goody two shoes who couldn't stay out past eleven and I definitely wasn't going out on dates. It was a lifestyle that was forced on me and I use to hate it. Now that I am on my own and can make my rules I find that I came back to the church not because it was forced on me but because my life was living testimony that God can make miracles happen. Since last year I've wanted to grow in my journey with God. Some people think that you have to follow these rules like no alcohol or swearing or else you've sinned and are not living a Godly life. However, I think that to God it doesn't matter what you wear or how far you go with your significant other without being married. I think that what God cares about most is if you are talking to him and trying to get to know him and it's okay if you sin because we are humans we are prone to sin. We can always pray for forgiveness and repent of our sins God doesn't love us any less and I don't think that we should set ourselves to unrealistic standards and beat ourselves up for it when we mess up. With that being said there are things I do because I want to spend time with the Lord not because I feel like if I don't then I won't get that ticket into heaven.
1. Pray
I pray to God for everything that happens in my life from my anxiety to relationships and career choices. Nothing is off limits.
2. Read the Bible
I do this especially when I'm doing a Bible study or reading a devotional or when I want to just read just because I need some guidance from God.
3. Bible Study
My favorite Bible studies lately have been from The Daily Grace. There are so many Bible studies to choose from.
4. Devotionals
I like reading a devotional because I get to grow even more in my relationship with the Lord. Lately, I have been reading Exstresso:Taking a Coffee Break with God by Leah Whitton with Jessica Casarez and the Lipstick Gospel Devotional by Stephanie May Wilson.
What do you do to grow in your relationship with God? I'd love to bounce ideas around with you, make sure to leave a comment down below. Also, I updated my blog a bit with an actual working about me page and some social media widgets at the bottom of my homepage so make sure to follow me on those sites as well! Have a lovely day/afternoon/night!
Lots of Love
