Life After High School
In high school I thought I had my life figured out. I thought I would take a year off to travel once I graduated in 2010. However, that wasn't the case due to a lack of funds. Instead, I waited until January to start college. I was in over my head. My classes started at eight in the morning and I struggled to keep up with it all. I flunked that semester and came back to my parents house. I was over college and just wanted to work to pay back my student loans. So I became an Avon representative and tried to work a couple of jobs. It was 2012 and my mom wanted me to try college again so I waited a semester because I felt I wasn't ready yet. I finally went back to college in the spring of 2013. I did alright but the I was taking classes that played to my weaknesses. I wasn't living a healthy lifestyle staying up late and barely getting any sleep. I wasn't taking care of myself. Even though the classes were challenging I got my hunger for learning back. I continued three semesters until I took a break after the summer semester of 2014. My grandfather passed away that summer because he had been ill for a while and I wasn't handling it. I tried going to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Arkansas right after the funeral. That's when the symptoms of my mental illness started to really develop. After I came back to my parents house I spent some time dealing with my illness without treatment. It wasn't' until January of 2015 that I finally accepted and received treatment. I've been going to day treatment for a year now and receiving other services. Now I can take the time to plan my future and explore my options career wise. Life can guide you to where you need to be in life
